Overview

The 2026 ASCA-MGI-Helicon Spatial Omics Atlas Research (SOAR) Grant is a dedicated research support initiative for the Russian scientific community, created to empower researchers leading the development of novel applications for spatial and single-cell omics technologies. This initiative is designed to uncover transformative insights into complex biological systems.

KEY BENEFITS

Integrated spatial and single-cell omics profiling
High-resolution analysis across large tissue fields
Wide-ranging sample and species compatibility

AWARD

Grant winner will receive a full package of research reagents and hands-on training to fully support project implementation, including:
  • Spatial omics: 4 Stereo-seq (1cm*1cm) library preparation reactions (using Stereo-seq FF V1.3 or Stereo-seq OMNI V1.1) and sequencing reagents
  • Single-cell omics: 4 single-cell 3' RNA library preparation reactions and sequencing reagents
Additional support for all applicants:

Tiered exclusive discounts: The top 10% of eligible applicants, along with all other candidates who submit a complete and valid proposal but are not selected for the full grant, will receive tiered exclusive discounts on Stereo-seq and single-cell library preparation, as well as the corresponding sequencing reagents

Onsite training: Grant winner will receive professional onsite training for the practical application of Stereo-seq and Single-Cell Omics technologies

Solutions Offered

The 2026 SOAR Grant gives researchers access to cutting-edge spatial omics and single-cell solutions from MGI and Helicon. By combining spatial positional information with cellular-level molecular data, awardees can develop a fully comprehensive understanding of their research focus areas.

Selection Criteria

1

Project Feasibility: The research project must be built on a rigorous, well-designed experimental plan that effectively utilizes Stereo-seq and single-cell omics technologies.

2

Scientific Merit and Impact: Priority will be given to projects that showcase innovative methods for integrating spatial omics data with matched scRNA-seq results. Proposals (max 500 words) must clearly outline how the generated pilot data will advance the relevant research field and solidify the foundation for subsequent major grant applications.

3

Project Readiness: Preference will be given to projects that can provide concrete proof of sample availability and a realistic project timeline for completion — ideally within 3–6 months of receiving the grant award.

4

Dissemination and Collaboration: A demonstrated commitment to sharing research results with the scientific community through public presentations and accepting formal recognition for grant-supported work.
