The event took place on May 28-30 in Almaty, Kazakhstan as part of the International conference "GENETICS AND PHYSIOLOGY: NEW APPROACHES AND CURRENT RESEARCH" (IGPH2025).

Participants from Russia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Germany obtained valuable skills in sample preparation, single cell library preparation, next- and third-generation sequencing by taking part in wet and dry lab practices and master-classes.

Leading scientists and technology developers in the field of single-cell and spatial analysis from Russia, China, Germany, France, and Kazakhstan presented talks during the conference: Alexis Gautreau (École Polytechnique, Institut Polytechnique de Paris, France), Kun Qu (University of Science and Technology of China), Guangdung Peng (Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health), Roman Sankowski (University of Freiburg, Germany), Konstantin Okonechnikov (German Cancer Research Center, Germany), Amankeldi Salybekov (Qazaq Institute of Innovative Medicine), Kadriia Enikeeva (Bashkir State Medical University), Tatiana Gerashchenko (Cancer Research Institute, Tomsk NRMC; RUDN University) and others.

During lab practices and master-classes, participants had the opportunity to analyze peripheral blood samples from breast cancer patients during chemotherapy, patients with endocrine ophthalmopathy, autism and allergies, as well as genetically modified cervical cancer cells (HeLa).

Evgeny Denisov, DSc, ASCA President:

- Over the years, workshops have helped to establish the ASCA – a community of professionals promoting single cell and spatial techniques in biology and medicine to accelerate investigations of biological objects and to understand mechanisms of disease development.
